No Limits Makaton choir performs in Newton Abbot

After a week full of weather warnings we had everything crossed for a dry day on Sunday 15th December as the No Limits Makaton Signing Choir was coming to town! Although the rain clouds seriously threatened we were really lucky and the weather stayed dry for us. choir, disabilities, autism, makaton, signingOur fabulous members were ready to show Newton Abbot exactly what a talented and entertaining bunch they are after weeks of singing and signing practice. Lead by Sarah Thorp (Co-founder of No Limits and a regional Makaton Tutor) we were confident our renditions of Rudolph, Jingle Bell Rock and Silent Night (to list just a few) would wow the crowds! We donned our antlers and santa hats (and brand new Signing Choir T-shirts) and, armed with a handful of sleigh bells, we took the obligatory group photo in front of Newton Abbot’s Clock Tower and then moved to a more sheltered spot to get ready to perfom! Energised by some Christmas chocolates, we signed and sang along to 12 festive favourites and even had some members of the crowd come up and join us. The more the merrier,  after all inclusion and fun is what we are all about here at No Limits! We raisied over £130.00 towards the No Limits project, thanks to the genorosity of the people of Newton Abbot. After 45 minutes of performing, which included an encore of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, we enjoyed a hot drink in Twelve Twenty and continued the merriment! It was great to see everybody together enjoying the Christmas spirit. We couldn’t be prouder of each and every member of our friendly and supportive choir. Thank you to Newton Abbot Town Council for allowing us to perform and fundraise and for supporting our project. If you would like to try our choir in the New Year please just pop along!
